Civil War Alternatives

Posted in Uncategorized on March 12th, 2010

Sometimes I think what would life be like if it wasn’t  for the civil war?

There is many alternitives to the civil war violence did nto have to be a choice. What would the course of American history and the quality of our national life have been like over the past 110 years or so if the U.S. had not fought the Civil War? It is hard to imagine “America,” in any of its aspects, without that harsh conflict of 1861-1865, but such imagining is worth the musing.

war doesent always have to be the first option.Yo can have peace and resolve all the problems you have as one to keep peace and tranquilty.Im sure theres people that loss family members to the civil if we would of use a alternitive there family members because of lived a little bit longer.

I will start with talking about the pickett’s charge…..

The picketts charge was a major assualt ordered by confederate Gen and Robert Lee against Maj.Gen and the union of George Meades posiontion his union on the cemetary ridge july 3,1863 the last day of the battle of Gettysburg which took place during the civil war.The assualt in a way was predicted by Gen James Longstreet and was not avoidable after the assualt people never fully recoverd mentally. The farthest point reached by the attack has been referred to the high water mark of confedaracy. The charge is named after Maj. Gen. George Pickett one of the three confederates who led the assualt on Gen longstreet. This is comparable to the way people feel wanting to rebel against people effected them wrongfully. This connects to alot of situations that occured in the civil war.

Is Nat Turner Crazy?

Posted in Uncategorized on March 10th, 2010

Nat Turner  rebeled slaves killed  up to 55 white people the highest number of deaths caused by slave uprisings in the South. Alot of save owners was killed. The rebellion was put down within a few days, but Turner survived in hidin in a ceirtain area for several months afterward. He was a mistreated slave who had no education and was used to being scared of his surroundings. So he took out previous anger on slaveowners. As being a slave he was only learning how to hurt people to get what you want so he acted in ways he was treated which turned to be deadly. He is not crazy that is the way he thinks. People many focus on the bad things he does but forget about the good. With black people they mostly focus on the bad things they do never the good Nat turner also had good things he did and it was never mentioned. His actions connect to real life if you go through something that badly effects you you would want to rebel which will make you feel better it does not make you crazy

war.jpgWhen harriet beacher stowe was introduced to President Abraham Lincoln in 1862, he is said to have greeted her with the words: “So you are the little woman who wrote the book that started this great war!” The book that this lady wrote started a great war abe feels she is responsible for everything or most of the things that happen in the war.Millions of people were harmed and killed because of this great war. That book had a major influence on the great war had harmed many people.Abraham Lincoln said this quote because it was ironic that a regular woman wrote a book that stirred up so much controversy it “started ” a war within a country between its self. Abraham Lincoln believed that Harriet Beecher Stowe started something that was way bigger than her.

protocols3_17.jpgThe number of soldiers who died from loose bowels is increasing. According to Union records millions of Yankee soldiers died of dysentery or diarrhea, compared with all the men dying in battle. Sometimes regiments had three-quarters of their men stricken at one time. The soilders suffered more when they were sick than during the war. The Confederate , with atleast 50,000 men, reported  cases of bowel disorders in the first nine months of the war. At Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond, alot of the people died if diarrhea and dysentery. Andersonville Prison in Georgia sometimes had 130 men die daily from the disorders. The balck people was the people that suffured with it the most.Which messed everything up for them and made them less in numbers during the war.It was a very high number of people who had it and it had a major effect on them during the war.People were poor so it was very hard to get treated.

He was a mistreated slave who had no education and was used to being scared of his surroundings. As being a slave he was only learning how to hurt people to get what you want so he acted in ways he was treated which turned to be deadly.Thats what he thinks. He wants to get people back for all the things they did to him as he was mistreated so i feel he is seeking vengance.
